¿What are the repos?

Under Mexican regulations, repurchase transactions (Repos) "are those by which the purchaser acquires, for a sum of money, the ownership of debt securities and undertakes to transfer to the purchaser the ownership of as many securities of the same kind within the agreed term and against the reimbursement of the same price, plus a premium..."

Financial institutions use repos as a financing option and take advantage of the instrument's flexibility to invest their liquidity. Through the System for the Administration and Valuation of Repurchase Transactions (SAVAR), Indeval makes available to the Participants the information on eligible assets (cash or agreed securities), collateral management, as well as the monitoring of the settled repos.
